Thinking of starting an in-person or face-to-face meeting? The first step is to find another member to work with. Below are suggestions to help in this journey:
1. Look for a meeting place:
Location with easy access to public transportation
Consider locations that have other 12 step meetings
Some locations require tenants to have insurance. If they do, ask if they have an insurance provider who offers the option for their tenants to purchase coverage
Most locations will not offer storage so you will need volunteers to carry the meeting information
2. Once you have a location, start-up funding can be applied for at Central Ontario Intergroup. Here is what to do:
Your meeting must be in the Central Ontario geographic area.
Send in a written request to the Outreach Chair at outreach@oaontario.org with the following information:
Meeting location address
Name of contact at the meeting location
Name and address of group contact
A monthly financial plan
Amount requested and reason for the request
NOTE: We do not provide funding for any literature purchases
A written request is required to present to the Intergroup body to approve and it is recommended that a representative from your meeting come to COI to speak to this request answering any questions.
